I changed my advert for the Silver FHC 2+2.

I had previously listed all the work carried out, and the upgrades and the like which is what I thought people would like to know!
but without much of an interest I changed it to the most basic information, just siting no offers and message me.

Ive now had emails and calls about the car, and had a viewing last weekend.

I just dont understand it, are people looking for a car to do work on themselves, expecting to add value??

If so, Ill strip the bloody thing to pieces and sell it off as a 'project'.

Im confused

Hi Stu

Told you so mate.

If you put so much info out there you will scare them away!

People like us who know what you were saying understand and apprecaited the heads up what you have done, but we were not who you needed to sell it to, as we would have been on to you knocking the price down etc!

Its the public who in most cases don't understand whats invovled with a hand built car!

Lets hope you sell it now!

Had mine up on the famous auction site last week. Put quite a bit of detail in - Massive interest - 109 watchers, had 13 different bidders and loads of bids back and forth. Only trouble was that I have had a bit of trouble getting in touch with the winner , he put a bid in then buggered off for the bank holiday weekend , he mailed last night though so seem to be back on track..... smile

Glad you sold it mate.

I didnt want to go the bidding auction route, but if I do I will remove the wheels and heads and split them up as itll fetch more money.

Not really the way I want to go, but if its the only way to realise the asking price, then thast the way Ill go!

Seems a shame to have to undo all the work and effort Ive put into the car!

Maybe if you put too much info then they think it is a basket case and a money pit?

Interesting thought.

I guess from an enthusiasts point a view a long list of items recently replaced/refurbished shows a cared for car. To the non enthusiast who simply wants a car to drive the thought of having a car with so many parts replaced suggests unreliable.

I have had exactly the same thing!

When i was selling the Rolls Royce, it had had a lot of work done so i listed a summary and not a bean of info...

Someone told me about this same thing happening to him so i changed it to a three liner and sold it a week later!

Related? Who know, but certainly a coincidence!

Having the same with the maserati at the moment...i just like to boast!!

Think i have too much here... http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/m...

maybe ill change it now!!

If you went the auction route though surely you would list it with a reserve to guard against it going ridiculously cheap, may even go for more, but the choice i to let it go would ať least be yours.

I wouldnt say it was a basket case when I got it.

The water pump failed as did the brake master cylinder when I pulled it onto the drive for the first time!! so that was the first things changed!

Then, all I did was engine upgrades and putting back the original interior fittings and fixtures and change the wheels, along with a few cosmetic things to tidy it up, nothing to indicate it was or is a basket case.

Hopefully the guy who looked at it last weekend will come back to me this weekend and drive it with the seat fully forward (the seat was back too far, it had slipped back without me noticing, and he had trouble pressing the clutch, I have pushed the seat fully forward now and will be moving the runners forward 100mm to accomodate this too)

Heres hoping

People are strange mate..If i was on the look i would want to see what it has had and would like to know what it needs..If anything..Unfortunately i bought delilah purely on the fact that it needed some tidying but was a runner..I think it was more of a case of park it on a beach when the tides out and do a runner!..But that is all history and she is a different kettle of fish now..Good luck with the sale...Ziga
