Following a friend in his E60 M5 recently, there was a puff of blue-ish smoke from the exhausts when he floored the accelerator from low speeds. This happened a few times after some low speed driving. Engine was up to temperature BTW.

Something ominous, or do they all do it?

Not an e60, but the e39 M5 always used to do that.

Usually happens if it's been driven lightly for a few days stuck in traffic, just clogged up.

It is primarily a London based car, so that would explain it, thanks smile

If it is defiantly blue ish then you have your answer, another thing to keep in mind is these cars overfuel on WOT so you get some black ish carbon exit.
