Common fallacy; if an engine runs better with the MAF unplugged it does NOT prove a faulty MAF; it proves that there is a difference between the metered air value from the MAF and the actual mass air flow into the engine. Most air leaks are diagnosed as MAF failures because of opinions like that shown above.The document below was very helpful in sorting a friends V8 3.5 with similar issues, timing fine tuning sorted the hesitation and intake back fires in the end.
