Is there a market for '911 XXX' numberplates?

After the Chris Harris personalised plate saga in General Gassing, I was wondering regarding plates with '911' in them. Are they coveted at all in Porsche circles?
I'm only asking as the E30 I currently own and I intend to sell in the next month or so has a 911 plate. It's nothing special, standard 1986 plate:
In your experience, is there any merit in considering selling this plate separately (to someone called James Matthew Edwards who owns a 911) or am I completely off base.
Looking on ebay, there appear to be quite a few similar priced up at silly amounts. Doesn't mean they are going to sell however.
I understand that a plate is only worth what someone will pay for it, I wonder whether it'd be worth the bother (and cost) to put on retention with a view to selling separately.

The cost to remove and retain the plate for a year is just £25 so it's worth taking off if you want to have a go at selling it.
You do have to also pre-pay the £80 transfer fee when you retain it but if you decide to just give the plate back before renewing the retention you can just send the certificate back and get the £80 refunded.

I passed what looked like a 250 GTO on the M74. Reg is F13 GTO.
Upon further research it's an MX5 with a kit. Can't help think that the reg must be worth more than the car?
I've got a G928 XXX reg on the 928 but no idea if it's worth more than £250.
If this is a sneaky "for sale" thread, fair play. Otherwise, stick it on Ebay with a £250 reserve and see what happens?

The value is dependent on finding the right buyer you could easily get £500-1000.P911 - £500 tops
D911 has extra value as the older registration opens up a larger number of buyers as it can go on cars 10 years older! So more marketable.
P911 can go on P reg onwards (Aug 96)

It really depends on how long you want to wait for the right buyer!
911 with three initials before or after would be much more desireable.
