Hi Folks

I'm camping this year with a few mates at Porsche Curves this year. The pitch they've given us doesn't seem huge, a 7m x 5m plot. Does anyone have any pictures of a setup of something around this size please? Just trying to gauge how much stuff not to bring

Cheers

Chris.

Most of the pitches on all the sites are 5m x 7m.

It's a fair size. You should have a pitch per car/tent really.

How many of you going?

We're staying at Camping Les Molieres at Sille Le Guillaume

Paid €16.50 a night for a 120m square pitch

Should do for the 2 of us, nice and quiet there too

5x7 is plenty of space for a car. a couple of mid sized tents that can sleep 3 each , gazebo with kitchen stuff under it.
I prefer it to the cheeky beggar years of past when an army of Brits ( The only nationality I know who does this ) over 10 years decides to get the "police do not cross" tape out and mark of half an acre for 2 cars and 4 blokes.

Too small? Buy 2 camping tickets. Fill it with 2 cars. etc

Last year - we had 3 camping spots. with 3 cars and 12 people. Plenty of room.

Not convinced. Take some masking tape out to a Tesco car park late at night - and measure for yourself.

Depends on how many of you are in the car/van, a normal car with 4 people can not actually carry that much gear, we take a large estate with 3 people and 3 tents plus gazebo etc we all fit on, but if you have 4 people the gear you take will be limited so still plenty of space

I am assuming you mean 120Sq M as 120M square is literally a football pitch.

Sille Le Guillaume is a nice spot, not camped there but have driven there for a quiet picnic in the past.

Hi OP,

On a 7 x 5 pitch you can just fit:-

1 2 persons tent
1 gazebo
1 small vehicle

only just thou, guy ropes tend to drift into next doors & vice versa.

On most sites you can often park your vehicle (considerately) elsewhere - there is enough space.

Thanks. There's 3 of us going but I think went a bit overboard on the tent size O.o

Off to Tesco car park tonight me thinks. Good idea - thanks.

a bit of thinking and you can get a lot on, couple of years back we got 1 large tent and 2 small ones plus a car and BBQ space on one

last year we had two pitches, we had one large tent 6.5x2.5, one medium size tent 2x5, a small toilet tent a 3x3 gazebo and two cars, admittedly one car front end stuck out a little onto track but didn't cause any problems, the other car was wedged in and didn't need moving (luckily) until we packed up on Monday

Yep biggrin
I have a 'Tunnel' tent with removable zip front door, you put the sleeping room in the rear of the tent then just back the car into the tent to save on space smile

So its 1/3rd sleeping, 2/3rd's Garage biggrin

Well a car parking space is approximately 2.5 by 4.5 metres so thats a 1/3 of the pitch taken up, standard gazebos are usually 3 m by 3m although some are a bit smaller these days so it depends on the size of your tent. Mine takes up a parking space, but fortunately we'll have 3 permits so plenty of space as we'll only have 2 gazebos, which reminds me to check they are ok.
