I am insuring my chim this coming week and I'm wondering if anyone has got any suggestions. I am being quoted £230 for 2k miles using my 9 years no claims. Is this about right
Cheers

£280 for 6000 miles you should be looking at.

Mannings are also good - see the Insurance Wiki on the General TVR section for a list of companies and phone numbers. Most don't require a spare no claims, they just clone your present one.

Just insured my S with Classic Lines in Hinkley, £225 for 3k. They beat my best other quote by a few quid and they include breakdown as standard, as well as track day insurance free for TVR car club events. My other best quote from Adrian Flux did not have these but was from the same underwriter. They will also offer a guaranteed valuation price for £20.

Obviously we only find out how good insurance companies actually are when you need to make a claim.

R&H very good and if you speak to "Longers" on the "S" forum, he has used them once, after breaking down on the continent, he said the service was excellent.

mine was 230 from privilege fully comp with value of 15k (for what that matters!) with all the normal perks (hire car, window, lawyers n st) - 10k miles, no track days etc - but I would rather handle that off cuff anyway.

I just ticked all the default boxes. I was happy with 230. I'm late 30's with *infinite* no claims. Though when asked the question "had / involved in an accident" I get a silly star to draft a quick letter stating clarification of culpability and ramifications to insurance risk & cost. So far all has backed down. (You can drive like an angel but live in hell and be a considered great risk)

Never trust an insurer and always ask if they could send somebody out to check your validity. If they refuse, then all is good - as I understand it!. I have been asking for this for over a decade after a house I lived in was burgled and the insurer didn't pay out because of the type of window lock I had, despite the access being attained via a lump hammer on the back door. Recently I had somebody out who said I would not have been able to make a claim because my front door lock was 3 and not 5 lever - £15 later and a new set of keys and I KNOW I am ok.. If in doubt - have them make the decision as to whether you are insured or not.

Last year, mannings was £360 for 5k with trackday cover. I am 34 on classic policy. I thought pretty good....

It also includes break down cover.
Insurance on the old lady is steep now. I used to use her as my Dailey commute and on 20k a year it was only £600.

As far as I am aware, track day cover adds about £80 to the premium.
I was with Mannings until I ran out of miles, similar premium and I am a lot older than you.
Now unlimited mileage plus track days with Classic Line, but premium over £400.

I was paying half that for my S with a cossie lump and unlimited mileage (I was also only 27). Try Hagerty, best by far, even with inflation it should be less than that.
