No New Caterham For Me!

After all the speculation and research I've decided not to get a new Caterham. Largely because for me 29K for one toy is too much to justify (ahem unless it's a yacht!). Well OK it's not if everything falls into place but the "buying experience" didn't. When I bought my new Land Rover a couple of years ago it was the best experience having only bought a new bike before, there was no pressure, no hard sell or anyone constantly trying to get deposits out of you or me having to justify my case for a test drive. As a result I bought one 2 months later after selling another car to fund it.
Not wanting to get back into bikes purely as I don't want my kids riding them I have so far resisted looking at websites but this morning I did, the heart started pounding looking at gorgeous machines resulting in me having the best morning taking 3 bikes out whilst the sales guys just let me get on with it.
As a result I have decided to split my money into the bike below and will give the pleasure of the other half of my hard earned to someone else for their second hand motor. I'm not personally having a dig at anyone, the guys at Cat South have been very helpful especially Anthony & Callum!

I still may enter the Caterham fold and still have my eye on one GRIN

Thanks folks, it's going to be no sleep for a few months until they get one in the country! I've always wanted an early Harley U but couldn't handle the old mechanicals on it, they need nursing to get you home much of the time. This has the same looks but comes with the latest 1700 cc engine and it even has ABS!!
Could be right Ruby, the original 1940/50's bobbers had a rigid frame of course so wheel travel wasn't an issue. Just looking at pictures of my old 1947 BSA the clearance is the same in relation to the tyre depth and you can see right through the gap on the front fender. I think the Harley looks more pronounced as it's been bobbed.

Handling on a Harley 
the foot plates start scraping before you get anywhere near handling. They are no canyon carver but very easy to ride, unbelievable torque and a great cruiser. It's all about the looks and noise but the softails can be an accomplished tourer with luggage racks and maybe a screen on the deluxe model for instance.Deluxe model below - only 1K more at 15.5K and better value but wasn't sure about all the chrome - stunning bike though!! I have dreamt of owning a Deluxe for years but could never afford it, the above black model came out about 10 months ago, lurvely but not so great at touring with short mud guards, no screen, bags etc.
Which do you prefer?
