Time for a new thread...
I shall await weather and FP1/FP2 before making a call.
But I do hope for some vintage Gilles footage this weekend and that it drowns out the tyre discussion...
1) joke tyres
2) bring back powerful engines with no aero
3) vettel is a t

4) horner is a t

5) grosjean / perez is a liability
6) can we stop with the betting odds please
7) button toys out of pram
8) obligatory alonso driving god comment

10) bbc/sky coverage is rubbish
Think that's most covered so we can discuss the race now. Should be a good one.

Don't think any have "failed". Some have punctured and fallen apart but with 700+ bhp spinning through them it's understandable
Pirelli have been very keen to point out that in fact the delaminations this year are far safer than what used to happen. It appears all instances have been caused by running over debris. Historically that lead to a puncture and the tyre going flat and the car either crashing with a puncture or limping back to the pits, and the tyre falling apart on route damaging the car. This year what happens is the tyre demlaminates but doesnt go down. This leads to spectactular pictures of bits coming off the tyre but the car remains under control, however the bits falling off leads to bad press for Pirelli. The inference being this years version is safer but perceived not to be, giving Pirelli an image problem.
There'll be some ground hogs.
Ferrari will have some really good updates and some stupid, dangerous ones as well. They'll share them out evenly. Fernando will get the really good updates and Filipe will get the stupid, dangerous ones.
There'll be some celebrities no-one's heard of on the grid.
Pirelli will say that the tyres are so bad to stop Red Bull
winning.
Red Bull
will win anyway.
Esteban will not win.
Romain and Pastor will both hit the wall of champions and Max will do something funny but I don't know what.
Sergio will crash into Jenson right in front of the pits, Lewis stylee.
Kimi will get some points.

Because it's crap. A puncture is something that goes through the carcass and lets the air out. This year what happens is the tyre demlaminates but doesnt go down. A delamination caused by a slit across the tread is a different thing altogether that shouldn't be happening.
Martin Brundell in the Isle-of-Man interviewed for the TT on Channel 24 ( ITV4 ) Right Now. He started one of the races.
He stood at the bottom of Brae Hill and now knows what real road racing speed is about ...
Superb footage of the bikes in action on these TT Cgannel 24 programmes so far. The Helicopter footage of the bikes coming down the mountain is breathtakingly impressive.
