Is it me or are Cerbera's getting cheaper and cheaper as the year goes on. Im thinking my Sp6 was expensive now but it seemed cheap in Jan. Surely V8 should be getting sold for sub 10k. Chimaera's seem to command better prices now!

Because people on here continually state that they cost an arm and a leg to run, which knocks the confidence out of the market.

I've had 6 TVRs, 2 of them Cerbs - my present one needed a quite a bit of TLC to get back to how it should but it hasn't broken the bank by any means and costs are comparable with my previous TVRs.

IMHO of course.

Well either way you shake a stick at it they shouldnt be less than the Chims (All due respect to Chims which are lovely!)

As above but I think they are pretty much rock bottom now, a lot of good owners are putting in the elbow grease and cash to get chassis's etc up to scratch which should help the market.

Yes but I think most of us are doing it because we want to keep them for ever, so that’s not going to help the market much!

I’d have thought a Chimaera’s chassis was just as likely to rust as a Cerb’s though. Maybe there are more Chimaera’s with new chassis on the market now as people started doing them before the Cerb’s from a time when they were a cheaper car to buy.

I quite agree that Cerb’s should be worth more than Chimaera’s, but I suppose there’s an element of the BMW market about it, the 5 series cost more than a 3 when new but often are less letter in life.

Because a few years ago Cerberas bought cheap are now scrap due to the cost of putting them back into shape. Good cars are simply hard to get hold of and command prices way above what you see advertised. Good cars have gone up bad cars have hit scrap value. Hard but true.

Good example cars probably don't even make it to the market place before they are sold.

As above I don't see any sign of good ones getting cheaper, if I look back at the 20 or so I listed to look at 3 years ago the prices are just about the same now. The cheap ones on ebay are all salvage or have problems.

I see mine being worth more now than I paid for it 7/8 years ago.

Your stuck between a rock & a hard place buying a Cerb currently. If you want a top car then you will pay top money...25k perhaps, but that is still a bargain compared with a 50k Sagaris.
Plenty of Cerbs around for 10k-15k,which is cheap for the performance and smiles a Cerb gives but anyone buying a Cerbera needs to realize that they require money spending on them to keep them reliable.
I think a great deal more money can be spent on a performance car with equivalent servicing costs but doubt that the exhileration and performance and fun will not match a Cerbera.
Its simple really.....if you want a Cerbera then you will make the sacrifices needed to run one.....but trust me....its worth it!

Totally agree Al!

Plus, why would Cerbs being so cheap actually worry anyone who was not selling at the moment?

Buyers will have a good deal, in my humble opinion or IMHO.

If you plan to keep your Cerb, it seems to me that you cannot lose at the moment.

Simon

Market distorted by rubbish examples. Mine has had everything attended to. And so i would expect to get £20k - 25k for it.

Yes the rubbish scrap cars. If they can all get split for parts then the good ones will go up in price and we can have a ready supply of cheaper parts. Win, win situation :-)

Thanks. This is my Cerb. And yes, I believe it is a steal. There are some minor cosmetic items: a few paint chips on nose, windscreen has evidence of the white "condensation" issue in extreme corners nowhere near as bad as most I saw when I bought it, and some wear to driver's bolster & armrest, but it is as described.

Given I've chucked a small fortune (£7k+) at her in the last 18 months as I was planning on her being a keeper, she should give many thousands of miles of cheap, trouble free motoring.

I'm only selling as I took redundancy & I am setting up my own business.

Well, I am pleased to say I have not had a bill on mine for a year now, last was a service and gearbox rebuild. She is now due a 12k service but will have that done when she gets sorted for the winter.

I tend to get a couple of cheap year then a more costly one every once in a while, but not too bad, and I am a cheque book owner!

Don't mention it Mickey, as I said it looks really nice. Sorry to hear of your redundancy but also glad to hear you are aiming at starting your own business.
Is this your first venture into your own business, if it is send me an e mail , may have something which may be of use, in a small way wink
