Some time ago, I mentioned that I`d put up some pictures of the three point rear seatbelts that I fitted to my 1990 R129 300-24 .

Well, here they are. They belts are made by QuickfitBS, a reputable company who provided the rear belts for about £50 each.

They are after making an aperture through the roof compartment bulkhead as the pictures hopefully show, and provide more safety for my boys aged 6 and 9 than the lap belts do.

There is some speculation about the homologation of the Benz rear seats for use by children, although I believe they are referred to as child seats . The rear seats are unsuitable for a booster cushion as this would raise the boy`s heads above the level of the rear deck, making a whiplash injury more serious in the event of a collision.

The securing bolt requires the rear wheelarch liner to be removed, and the cut through the bulkhead needs a steady hand. As you may be able to see, the cut has been trimmed with felt to stop the belt fraying. It is important to note that the pop up roll bar still operates as it should .

quickfitbs will supply and fit for about 300 i think. im based up in north yorkshire so i just bought the belts and my mechanic fitted them with phone advice from quickfit. took about half a day.
their website is worth a look as it has a useful gallery and you can colour match the belts to the original .
