your top 20 console games
Discussion
so, im trying to get some 'new' good games, and dont really know what to go for, as I have got about 200 current console games.
im basically seeing what other people think are good games and then look into them and if they are my style or any good i will get them.
so Im asking for your top 20 games of all the different modern consoles, purely to get some inspiration and that 20 has double the range than 10 so i can see a bit more games that I normally would
this is only current consoles btw.
so my top 20 are, in no particular order
fire emblem
halo 4
halo reach
luigis mansion
WoW
diablo 3
Fallout 3
borderlands 2
Crysis 2
skyrim
forza 4
GT5
dungeon hunter (i think) on vita
mass effect 3
mass effect 2
dead island
zombieU
uncharted golden abyss
half life 2 (and ep 2)
assassins creed 3
I actually found 20 my top games quite hard to name.... might just be the drink inside me thats making it hard lol.
over to you

Well, I don't have the patience to list 20 favourites, and I'd struggle to do so without duplicating a lot of your list - but depending on what elements of Fire Emblem you enjoy, I found Valkyria Chronicles to have a lot in common with it, and it's certainly in my top 5.
Others, in no sort of order, would be:
Demon's Souls - This and Dark Souls are rather unlike any of the games on your list that I'm familiar with, but they're excellent games, with a steep enough learning curve that you'll still be fighting for your life right until the end, and they're not short either.
Far Cry 3 - While it's better on PC, if console is your only option it's still a good open-world FPS. Can get a little repetitive if you try to play it efficiently, but if you're happy to play around then the game world is an excellent one to explore, and the gameplay works well.
Uncharted 1-3 - Enjoyable story, and decent gameplay. It can be a bit easy on the lower difficulties, but it's hard enough to provide a decent challenge on the hardest difficulties.
Bioshock Infinite - Fantastic setting, and compelling story. Not the most original if you're familiar with the style of story, but if you're not it'll blow you away. The same applies to the original Bioshock, for that matter - seeing it missing from your list I'd recommend you play that first - the second can be skipped though.

Heavy Rain is a modern classic too. Great story.
If you like 2D beat-em-ups, I'd thoroughly recommend the Blazblue series too. The story line is surprisingly good although be prepared for a lot of long intro's in the story mode before you get to fight. As an example, there is a character who is a legendary fighter from the past (the background story of the world is partially based on him), but he was built in the future and sent back. You can play him in the game as scientists took him from the edge of time to be in the present to defend the past and the future. It gets more complicated than that too.

I switched to PC about a year before the PS3 came out so my list is shorter than 20 and they're old but in no particular order.......
Metal gear solid - PS1
Mario Kart - N64
GTA Vice City - PS2
Sonic The Hedgehog - Mega Drive (I lived in the house with an electric meter so it had extra tension for me)
Command and Conquer Red Alert - PS1 (2 player with 2 TVs, inconvenient but awesome)
Goldeneye - N64
Golden Axe - Mega Drive (Have it on steam now and it's still awesome)
Streets of Rage - Mega Drive
Resident Evil 1,2 & 3 - PS1
Resident Evil 4 - PS2
Silent Hill - PS1
Duke Nukem 3D - PS1
Gun - PS2

Dark Souls
Demon Souls
Braid
Thomas Was ALone
Vanquish
Dragon Age Origins
Nino Kuni Wrath of the White Witch
Limbo
Journey
Batman Arkham Asylum
Walking Dead (although it isn't much of a game, it's an interactive story)
Catherine
Wipeout HD
X-Com
Any of the Lego games
Ghostbusters
That's it really, I can't think of 20 really good current console games worth recommending...
I think the Uncharted series is massively over hyped, Skyrim is decent but it's a buggy mess on the PS3.
Assassin Creed series was dull.
CoD & Battlefield I couldn't care less about.
Driving games feel weird but then I don't have, and dont want, a wheel.
I also loved the NBA2K series, but that's really just for basketball fans.
Trine could make maybe the list if they hadn't included the last level, which was just awful.
Bioshock I thought was always a bit of a mediocre shooter and I couldn't get interested enough in all the fluff pseudo social commentary that they try to do to get past that.
