993tt at Hendon way motors
Discussion
I haven't posted on here for years but would appreciate your views. I've seen a green 993 turbo at Hendon way motors and am interested it. Does anyone on here know anything about the car?
Not sure how to post a link but the website is. http://www.racecar.co.uk/hwmnet/stock.asp?Category...
Views appreciated. I'm aware of the hwm history - but understand that things have now changed

Without getting into the while 'HWM' gashing off has anyone actually bought or sold a car using HWM and had a good experience ? They must sell cars as they been in business long enough and if they were completely unscrupulous then I'm sure trading standards would have had them by now.

They've got a 996 GT3 for sale that caught my eye...http://www.racecar.co.uk/hwmnet/detail.asp?Categor...
I'd love to find out whether they're any good as well. I've heard anecdotal evidence about them but that's all so far.
The whole POA thing is irritating.
"Pricing Policy
It has always been our policy to sell such cars at the most competitive price possible and we endeavour to offer a complete sales package to clients that betters any of our competitors. Such a package is tailored to individual client’s needs whether there is a part exchange involved, finance required, specialist shipping or insurance, or a warranty protection plan needed. It is for this reason and the constant change in market condition that we cannot list individual prices. But if you have any particular interest in the cars listed, please do not hesitate to contact us where we will be more than happy to inform you of our latest competitive prices on the listed stock."
How come every other trader manages to list their prices on PH/AT?

LOL.
Not the first time I've heard that.
Can you say why?
Remember it's only libel if it's not true.
Do a search. If the PH search function isn't working (and it frequently doesn't) Get in touch with All2ofme off here, he'll tell you how to format the web address to make it work ('cos he's waaaaay smarter than me) Having done a successful search on PH, you'll find a host of thread about HWM, most of which ended up being locked by the mods. Go figure Not the first time I've heard that.

What's changed - they have new staff and I think that most of the bad stuff is from a while ago. I can't say much more than that as I have nothing to base it on but I have spoken to Anthony and he seems pleasant.
I would be really interested in thoughts on the car though - and whether anyone has any knowledge of it. I know that it's been around for a while - and last weekend I popped in on my way past the showroom to have a look as it was in the window

that is a lovely car ....
It's a lovely LOOKING car enough said.If I were seriously thinking of buying that car I would be going over it with a paint depth gauge and employing the services of Peter Morgan to look at the car and its history.
caliper plate lift, creaking windscreens, tired suspension, leakdown/compresison test ... these are the biggies

Talking of which I had one of he's team do a £350 inspection for me on a 964 and it was very detailed. Told me lots about interior lights not working and all the minor details but missed the fact a rear quarter panel had been replaced and instead put in the report 'the car has never had any crash damage'!!!!!!If I were seriously thinking of buying that car I would be going over it with a paint depth gauge and employing the services of Peter Morgan to look at the car and its history.
It wasn't hard to spot as when u lifted the boot lif the seem weld was staring at you. Not impressed

The same car was for sale when I had the misfortune to talk to Swiss Tony.
That was 2 and a half years ago.
I was fortunate in that I escaped with my deposit back after all manner of lies were told about a cars provenance.
Dont just walk away from HWM, run and keep running.

from my own personal experience relating to another car
read the above carefully digest and run for the hills
JZM have some lovely cars - that Arena Red 993TT really does it for me!
I rang HWM once to enquire about a car. I have never had so much b
ks before ... I don't think they had the car there, they knew very little about it and frankly seemed to be making it up. Nor could I pin them down to a price. Rightly or wrongly I formed a view they could not be trusted and I won't do business with people with whom I feel deeply uneasy. And I never have done since. Reading the very many threads on here and other car sites I think that was the right decision.

They contacted me asking if they could sell it for me. I said they could buy it, they didn't want to buy so on that basis I chose not to deal with them. I have heard a lot about them and think it was the right thing.

I enquired about one of their cars a few years ago. They gave me a price and when I went down to look at the car and they saw I was serious, they upped it by £2k saying they made a mistake over the phone !
I didn't buy
