One year old hates to be cleaned, just us?
Discussion
He was always happy to have his face cleaned with a baby wipe after food but recently he reacts like I am cleaning his face and hands with sandpaper
Anyone else suffered this? As soon as I stop he returns to normal and giggles and smiles but when cleaning him he sounds like a baboon having a pineapple inserted into its rectum.

Yep, ours hates it now, she was fine before, she has also taken to standing up in the bath, where previously she loved them, she also gets very funny about us undoing the straps on her pushchair and car seat, pulling our hands away etc. If you even mention the word nappy she runs off to a corner to try and hide, when you pick her up she screams and struggles until you get her on the mat, then she realises its fine and lays there happy.
Think its just a stage. It is a pain though.
Edit, Strangely enough she's fine if I wash her hands at the sink with me, its just the baby wipes she tries to fight.

Nope, as far as I can tell the basic state is afraid of/don't like <anything> until proven otherwise. I made up a nappy change song(*) for mine and always sang that as I picked him up. He quickly learned that meant is was okay to lie still for a bit.
* don't ask.
Please, purely for expectant fathers everywhere, can we have the song?* don't ask.
I can almost guarantee zero slating!!!

Some of the baby wipes can be quite perfumed. These will sting on an already dry or slightly sore skin. Try buying the ones with no perfume and see if it makes a difference or use a wet cloth. It might work!
I've noticed this. Some of them are like sprinkling vinegar on an open wound. When ours has had a sore bum on occasion we use cotton wool balls soaked in warm water.My 2 love the shower too, 4yrs and 18months , just wack the shower on theyll happily pile in, shut cubicle door and you could leave em there all day. Funny things kids, mental.

I did wonder this, they are Aloe Vera Huggies wipes. Will try a wet cloth and see if that helps
Glad to see my son is not the only one who hates to be clean

All mine hate it, probably not helped by my rough tactics designed to promote them to keep their face clean or wash it themselves. My youngest is 18months and will wash her own hands and face when told.
I wouldn't like the idea of someone grabbing me, coming into my face with a wet cloth etc... I don't see why a kid would enjoy it.
