When does it kick in and out, what months as opposed to when the bad weather starts and stops!
I know it's not in at present as I've half heartedly been trying to move on my FL2 and the prices just keep dropping with no sniffs. Once gone I'm toying with a Series or D90 on the drive and don't want to sell the FL2 without the extra tax and pick up the Series/D90 with it, iyswim.

Winter is when the tax appears.

Buy a landy in the summer, sell in winter.
Buy a convertible in winter, sell in summer.

The only issue you have is the car your selling will get the snow tax, but so will the car you want to buy...

hehe

What are we discussing here?

Please tell me where I can find out more about this 'snow-tax' thing?

I'm not sure it really exists all that much tbh. If it's a bad winter then a 4x4 may be easier to sell than normal. But it's not as if it adds £5k to price.

It's a euphemism for that fact that most 4x4 prices take a hike when there's a sniff of snow, and start to drop as summer approaches.

This really.

You want to be buying a d90 etc now, and selling the freeby in october/november time.

Possibly.. hehe

Oh I see, s**t myself when I saw this thread!

To the user who was talking about selling a D90...wash your mouth out! ;p

Best wishes.

Hesitantly I'll agree; the used car market in the UK is quite bizarre and very few cars sell for their asking price and very few cars sell quickly. I'd imagine, as you suggest, 4x4s will be easier to sell, and maybe for a lesser reduction from asking price, but ultimately I don't think there is a trend to spot in the classifieds.

I put my D90 up for sale last week. A few people told me to wait until Oct/Nov time. I want to sell it now as ive just put 12 months tax and MOT on it. Suppose if it dosn't sell now, I'll just try again in 5 months.
