Was thinking of taking my mountain bike to LM, staying at Houx, primarily for taking a trip round the track on the Friday.

I'd chain the bike to our motorhome when not in use with a motorbike lock chain, but I'm worried that some chav will still manage to relieve me of it throughout the week.

Are my concerns valid or is Houx any more secure than any of the other sites?

No really in a position to comment about Houx (never been) but as a general rule I won't take anything with me when camping that I am not prepared to lose.

There will always be someone who will have it away given half a chance

As long as its "Really" chained up it should be ok, we wont go to Le Mans without bikes and make our way around the further away viewing points during practice/quali/race

We stayed at Houx in motorhomes last year with our bikes on the rear rack. Admittedly I did use three bike locks to secure them, but had no problems. We're staying in Houx again this year and our group (13 of us) are all bringing bikes and leaving them on the motorhomes. I wouldn't take a valuable one to Le Mans, but I guess if you don't want them to disappear, take some chain and padlocks ,as well as several bike locks.

I wish we could take some bikes.....the cars we're taking are struggling to cope with the camping gear, let alone squeezing some pedal power on board frown

we took x4 bikes to Houx in 2010 and just chained them all together no problems at all, and saw loads more of the circuit than previous trips

isnt much security at houx, only noticed a couple of guys on the gate

Same here. Lock it or lose it.

A few years ago in Karting Nord, a woman camping next to us got pi$$ed and came back with a bike. She had no idea where she nicked it from, did it cos she was drunk. Silly tart.
