350i seat frames

Guys

Are the seat frames in a 350i prone to cracking? I only noticed for the first time yesterday that my seat base frame on the drivers side has split in two just in front of the tilt lever. It looks like its been welded in the past but not very well. I imagine I should be able to sleeve it without to much trouble. But was surprised to find it as the seat is very comfortable, doubt I would not have noticed it if I hadn't dropped something down the side of the seat?

When I took mine apart the frames had twisted badly, so I would say cracking is possible, hopefully its an easy fix and good luck there pretty easy to pull apart, cheers, Ralph

its a common fault ive had it on two wedges to repair them I striped it to the frame clamped it back into shape welded it up and then welded an extra tube in both sides they never broke again
