Just wondering what if any warranties you guys have one your cars. The reason for asking as many of you will know is that the maserati trident warranty is well over £3000 (£3500 if your over 30K miles).

Opinions, thoughts & input welcome.

Well it's something that I'm starting to think about.
Rumour has it that there will be a revised offering from Maserati to bring the warranty costs down. When this will be is anyones guess however.

Thing is my 3200 has been rock solid reliable for the last 12 months and it's had a pretty active life. It's almost tempting to not bother renewing the warranty, but I know that if I don't something is bound to come along and bite me.

Verdis allegedly were doing something - any more info on that yet David?

So far no new news on the maser factory warranty - could be all BS!

Verdis offer a warranty backed by AON, max claim 4K, costs 1200ish+VAT. Had a good long chat with Karl today - bloody nice bloke. Its the old 'ferrari' one apparently??

"Rock solid" eh - you know the day the warranty expires so will both your turbos and the gearbox!

Beer soon?

Bob Houghton Ltd recommended these two companies for after market warranties.... no idea what they are like, haven't got round to ringing them yet, and this is after I took my two week privately purchased 348 Spider 2000 miles hooning around France, Belgium, Germany Switzerland and Italy!

Car Care - 0870 752 7005
Warranty Holdings (ask on the TVR forum about these as they cover a lot of TVRs) - 0870 532 9696

Not sure but don't think any warranty companies over here offer bumper to bumper cover like you can get in the US of A IIRC. Have been told by folk I know working in dealerships that there are always key escape clauses for the most likely problems (that'll be wear and tear sir, or, that's an excluded item as you can see in the hyperfine print). Told they are like buying extended cover at Comet or Apollo stores. Also that they cost the issuing dealer about a tenth of the price you'll pay. Buy direct and the slightly lower price means the company gets an even bigger profit? Personal experiences with these things suggest that some dealers and some warranty companies may be in bed together as well. If it wasn't for VAT and depreciation it'd be enough to get me buying new. Edited to add an experience when buying a used M3 some years ago, sales guy says it comes with a good warranty worth £00's (can't remember but high hundreds) so having tested and inspected the car I say OK, no warranty thank you and take that off the sticker price. Sales bloke goes pale and consults his boss, returns and says sorry can't do. Wonder why...

This probably depends on how badly you need peace of mind Dave. Three grand sounds pretty steep. These things seem to have more escape routes than a rabbit warren, and so far there's been sweet FA covered by my Powertrain warranty.

So what went wrong that wasn't covered? I must admit with the current trident warranty all the little check engine light problems, the bust shock absorber were all fixed nice and quickly and under the warranty.

I'm erring towards the one offered by verdis but it would be good to know if people have had claims knocked back by it.

Thanks

also told that new Trident warranty (from 3 months ago) wont tollerate ancy changes inc Tubi - do you think we should create a formal petition and lobby the New UK Distribution Co before the ink dries on the new, lower priced Trident jobby?
