Yes it was my Granturas 50th yesterday, born 1st June 1963 in Blackpool.

Day started well with a bubble bath "al fresco" and a rub down with a soft chamois leather. Bit of Carnoba wax and she was roaring to go. First stop, 50 birthday litres of Saudi sparkling white (she likes a drink) and getting well oiled. She remembers fondly the days when you could get the "strong stuff, 5 star leaded before Doctor Brussels told her it was bad for her and childrens brains. How wrong he was proved to be, children dont appear to have any brains! Once or twice a year she gets a fix of grease injected into her (synthetic nowadays....only the best) and then off for a thrash round the lanes; she loves being driven hard.

Then as a special treat it was a day trip to the place she was born, sunny (yes) Blackpool and a visit to Beverley Grove and Bristol Avenue, nostalgic but VERY sad. To cheer her up we went for a drive along the Promenade. However this seemed to coincide with the "WKD and strong lager" sponsored joint events, the "one eyed hunchback" and "obese who can wear the shortest Primark frock" club annual events, all delivered in pink stretched Hummers. Every third car was a police car with its blues and 2,s blaring so quite exciting. Turns out the "Misspelled Tattoo club were brawling in a bar with the Dyslexic Scouser society", know warramean?

All this excitement gave us an appetite so off to Bispham chippy for some memorably flavourless fish, chips and mushy peas, bread and butter and a pot of tea. Back down the prom for dessert, granny declined Candy floss and Mr Whippy (did you know Maggie Thatcher invented it) citing the effect it had had on my physique over the years (bh).

Back home drive drenched in sunshine for a party at her "motor house" aka "the Museum". We played some vinly LP,s of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones and other period classics loudly on the old Technics turntable (If this sounds like a foreign language you may need to ask your parents/parent to explain).

Then it was time for her to settle down for the night with her friends and reflect. They all settled down talking about the old times when their parents were stiil alive, sadly they died of broken hearts in 2006 after their Russian uncle fell out with the rest of the family. My old granny, the old Jersey granny, the old Boot granny and the old Dame granny, 3000s and her recent new lodger a 10 year younger 3000M whose owners had stopped loving her after 25 years and fallen in love with a Japanese model.Only 2 days ago her latest suitor was invited to stay , a smart white 3000M whose owner of 25 years had thought it best she left home and go out into the wide world and find new friends. She still enjoys the company of the more mature type, not at all keen on the noisy, flashy, blingy teenage types who like to stay home with their play stations and laptops instead of going out on trips.

She still loves continental and UK tours and does them as often as she can, also enjoying trips to race tracks both to play and watch. Only last weekend she was out with one of her fiesty topless friends at Oulton park (she only ever did topless in public once, you will need to see TVRCC Sprint, August 2003 pages 9 and 12 to see the salacious pics.

Here,s to her 60th birthday and all the fun we,ll have between.

HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY

Very good, as a matter of interest, how many if those 50 years has she been in your care?

PS. I thought I looked mighty fine in my Primark skirt.

Fantastic you should give Clarkson a lesson in writing.
Good Job the Irish Dyslexic Society was not there to join in.

Nice !!!

It's a bit of a shock to think that my S3 is now over 40, and well into maturity too, and even my Wedge is getting on, just like me, getting older and grumpier every day....until I drive one of them, then it always brings a smile.

Costs lots of money
Whatever you do, it's never good enough
When the going's good, it's great - if not...

Funny you should say that, I've always thought the wedges as MALE in character, but let's face it, they also cost lots of money, etc, etc,
