Tent Sizes Terte Rouge

I understand that the usual pitch size is around 35m2 at 5x7 metres for camping to include a car.

I have an E60 five series that I will be taking and am currently looking at this tent: http://www.decathlon.co.uk/2-seconds-xxl-iiii-pop-...

Can anyone suggest how suitable it would be? Size wise it all just about fits but I don't want to spoil anyone else's visit though guy ropes or just generally taking up more room than is fair.

Any advice appreciated.

In the years I have been going there has always been a good atmosphere with regards to tent ropes etc... we have been staying at Houx Annexe and last year there was a ditch that took up about a third of our pitch - but the neighbours had a huge pitch and offered us space so we could put our tent confortably - my advice - a couple of beers always smooth the path and talk to your neighbours if you feel there is a problem rather than just barge in...

Another year our neighbour had forgotten to close his waste water tank on the camper. He flooded a small corner of the pitch with washing up water and I just told him about so it wouldn't happen again and the family came and viped it up... no worries.. and a couple of beers were proffed as a way of apology

Its fairly relaxed, and with others around generally being sensible and sympathetic with their pitches often there is a large amount of space free. Last year we had my E61 M5 Tourer and a 4 man tunnel tent in a group area with other PHers. Loads of space left over as everyone made 'best use' of what was available so any spare space could be overlapped with others users to create larger transit routes and communal areas.

The thing to do is to keep cars together out of the way and then pitch tents in the same way on the opposite side so its not so 'random'.

tertre rouge is very different to the other campsites, there are tree's, rough patches, hard standing it is not all flat grass, the pitches are marked out with parking space in lanes at the side. There are some pitches bigger than others and some flatter than others, when you arrive spend some time choosing a space and you will be OK. some tips however are don't camp to close to the loo's and if the grass looks lush and soft think about it carefully, if it is in a dip then rain becomes a problem.

Oh yes forgot to mention it, pop up tents that size are hilarious, we have spent hours watching people try to fix them properly and even funnier when they try to collapse them, Take it from me get a proper tent it will be better if the weather is rough, and easier to use.
