I have re-discovered "The Wonder Stuff"

I recently read a review of the new Wonder Stuff album "Oh no it's..... The Wonder Stuff", and the review was favorably comparing some of the tracks to their older stuff from the late 80's / early 90's.

I was a big "Stuffies" fan back then, but had not listened to them for years, so I downloaded the new album, and just as the review states, several tracks are pure Stuffies. In my laziness when uploading all my CD's to iTunes a few years ago, I didn't upload all my Stuffies cd's (Hup, Eight Legged Groove Machine, Construction for the modern Idiot, Never Loved Elvis, etc), I had only uploaded their singles collection from 1996, "If The Beatles Had Read Hunter".

WOW!!!! How good were the Stuffies?!?!!? This has been on continual play in the car since I first played it, 3 weeks ago. I can't stop listening to it. Circle Square, Hot Love Now, Golden Green, Full of Life, Sleep Alone, etc etc. I know I am missing all the album tracks from the old albums, and haven't even given the new album a 2nd listen yet!

It has taken me right back to that period of my life 88-95 when I was 16-23, and what fun it was. Remembering old mates, gigs I went to (incl the Stuffies at Brixton Academy).

So once I have exhausted the Stuffies, I might dig out all the albums and work my way through them, or I might trawl through all my cd's and get out all the music I used to listen to....

But it's been great re-discovering music I used to listen to, and all the memory's that come back from that time.

ME too - for some reason I didn't like anything that followed quite as much though. Especially "that" single with Vic Reeves.

Loved 8 legged and Hup. In that era, they were slightly edged out for me by PWEI. which, incidentally, was my first gig that I went to at 17. Late starter, I know.

PWEI, Neds and The Stuffies. The soundtrack to my teenage years. Idiot was my fave stuffies album. I'm goign to have to dig out all the old stuff now and add it to iTunes. Cheers!

I thought they started out brilliantly, 8 legged groove machine is epic, Hup has bits of genus (cartoon boyfriend) then it all seemed to go wrong.

Love Circle Squared though, in fact I might go and play it now.

I went to see The Wonderstuff at Wolverhampton Civic Hall years ago.

They were sublime.

I re-bought 8 legged groove machine and never loved elvis on cd recently, great albums.
