Great driving route
Discussion
Morning all.
I have fulfilled a childhood dream and after many years of hard graft have bought my first Aston. A low mileage DB9 which is a joy to drive. I am picking it up on Wednesday this week and driving it over to France for a bit of a jolly down to Bordeaux. Can anyone recommend a great driving route from Caen. I've done the auto route/motorway route a few times, but fancy something a bit more interesting to put me and the beast through our paces. Any suggestions?

First: incase you've not already done it, photos are mandatory!
I've done that route once, years ago in a Porsche - there were some nice roads, but I have no idea what route I used... I think I just told to TomTom to avoid motorways. I am planning to do more-or-less that route in reverse this autumn though, so I'll be looking out for good suggestions.
I do remember that I ended up getting the Royan - Verdon-sur-Mer ferry, and then driving through the Medoc. Depending on how you feel about the wines of the region it can be a slow and expensive journey

I've done the Medoc side of the estuary many times on holidays, and yes you're right, it can get expensive and slow going depending on your thirst for the glorious wines! I don't think I'll be mixing the DB9 with wine supping though! Don't want to end up wrapped round a tree,
Thanks for the response, photos will follow after a good post journey spit and polish session.
