When I cleaned my car at the weekend I found that I had driven over what looks to be magnolia emulsion paint at some point and some other unidentified paint/substance.

The emulsion does come off with wax (eventually) but it is taking forever and the other black substance isnt shifting at all.

Any ideas on what might get rid of it and not cost a fortune? I have no idea what the black stuff is unless its the undercoat?

Here are some pictures.

The front wing (there was more on the door but I managed to remove that):

The mystery black stuff on the rear. Wax doesn't make any impact on this at all. The green in the pictures is reflection from the cleaning cloth I was using and isnt a mark on the paint:

Thinners/tar and glue remover or Panel Wipe should shift it, but in all honesty if it is emulsion you shouldn't need anything so aggressive.

The black is bleed through from the substrate to the water based basecoat, the panels will have been refinished at some point in the past.

You are right, the emulation came off with warm water and a lot of elbow grease.

I suspected as much about the rear panel frown One for the smart repair guy then... Bother.
