Anyone have a spare or know which car they were originally fitted to?
My passenger side one has been badly bodged, the stalk has fractured about 1/4 of an inch above the bolt, then bodged onto a bolt through the seat base!
The bolt into the chassis is rotten, rusted to buggery so it is going to be a pita to remove but it has to be replaced, wouldnt be happy to put anyone in that seat for any distance.

There's been some debate about seatbelts over the years: some they were as used in the classic Mini - but then other people say not. All I know is that when my old Tas failed its MOT on frayed belts I wandered down to my local scrappy, sat in a few rusty (not crashed!) old heaps until I found the same fittings and whipped out my spanners... and got them from a Mini.
I've heard tell they were Securon, I thought the ones I got were Britax... but it was last century wink
My 390 isn't here so I can't nip outside to check.

Climbing cars stacked four high, slipping in the crud, wondering if the whole lot was going to come crashing down... dodging the mangy German Shepherd on a length of frayed rope... socks full of relays and fuses... whistle... pushing a Herald over on its side and using a length of Commer van exhaust as a cracking bar on my dad's hub puller after I sheared a driveshaft on the Spitfire... stuffing a Jaguar fuel pump down my kecks after the 'quaint Romany gentleman' told me it'd be FOUR QUID... robbing git biggrin ... seeing my old man's former 1959 Mercedes 300D 'Adenauer' limo outside a scrappy with all the windows smashed and the radiator kicked in, that was a bit of a low point... doing 'Home 2 Rome' in an Audi Coupe that had dents in the roof and forklift marks in the floor from where it was in a scrapyard pile... car not only got us to Rome but one of the guys drove it back and ran around in it for a year before it went back to the scrappy!

Ah, happy memories of the dodgy places around Manchester, cars indeed stacked 4 high and swaying in the wind... watched a pile collapse once. Oily mud and crap (and God knows what else) everywhere...

I took my girlfriend once to a favourite place, her in a low cut top, and walked out with a TOOLBOX full and all pockets full of indicator stalks, relays and other 'leccy goodies - she thought it was a good laugh to watch the guys drooling !

In one they used to put the dog in one of the cars/vans which still had windows, and I never saw anyone move so fast as the poor bugger who opened the back door and leapt backwards in a very impressive manner, with this huge dog about 2 inches from his nose....luckily dog was tied to one of the seats....

We used to chuck stuff over the fence, as next door was vacant, but after a while the proprietors got wise and had a little kid on his bike as a spy.... I still got out with various carburettors, but had to pay for inlet manifold...

Then arguing about the price was always fun....

Good times indeed.

I have just had a look at mine, and spent some time on ebay and they are Kangol ones,as far as I can tell identical to the ones used in Mini and some mgbs

You need these 500/30's which are pretty much the same as every other car in the uk!

I've fitted these to mine.

I was hoping to just replace the stalk (at least for the time being) so was looking for the kangol type so that they match

Dammit, I meant Kangol, not Britax... rolleyes

Sure I read somewhere that the Securon 500s were 'close but no cigar'... but does it really matter as long as they do the job? Nobody ever crashes wedges anyway... whistle

I was being a bit lazy tbh, trying to save myself some work, the rest of the belts are fine.

Looks like I must have thrown the old ones away a couple of years back, although I can tell you that the replacements are Securon = their website is quite helpful about types and actually lists TVR fitments.

Ok thanks for looking number 7

It looks like I will have to spring for new belts then (I cant have them not matching) unless one of my motorclub friends has any mini ones tucked in their garage somewhere

Well as I was painting my propshaft tonight I thought I'd take a look at my seatbelts... and all I've found is more confusion biggrin

The nearside belt is labelled AUTOLIV LTD, ENGLAND and has the type number 0002.931. The buckle has the number 98 stamped in: maybe that's production year and the belt was renewed then, I'd have to wade through the service record to check.

The offside one is merely labelled IMMI U.S.A... the buckle is stamped 3204-736 D038.

Both types are identical in style of buckle, plastics etc. and have the relevant Ar4m and FMVSS references... but are clearly not Britax, Klippan, Kangol OR Securon biggrin

Might have known my bloody car would be different rolleyes
