Ok, so I am pretty anal about my vehicle cleaning regime, wash, leather, wax, back to black, leather feed, speed detail etc but I have never had to consider a fabric roof. The ex's all had a vinyl convertible roof on their XR3i cabrio many moons ago and that was as tough as old boots and easy to clean but whats the best way on a modern Volante roof.

Would like to know how to do the usual weekly wash as well as a more thorough clean and treatment.

I already know...... no jetwash, no strong detergent and no automatic car washes, whether populated by the Eastern European community or not.

Cheers,

8Tech.

Hmmm,

Sorry mate, I am new to the AM section of the forum so the response has just passed me bye.

I am assuming Francis is fond of leather?

rofl

I believe he might be. Apologies I thought I had seen your name previously. Welcome aboard.

To explain, Francis is a detailer to whom many of us entrust our Astons. He dislikes leathers and recommends the thick and highly absorbent microfibre towels for drying the car. I use a couple myself and much kinder to the clear coat.

There is a comprehensive FAQ at the top of this section on cleaning.

I've always used the same process on my roadsters.
Was as same of rest of car (snow foam, light pressure wash dry with microfibre )
Then I use Sellotape to get any cloth fibres out followed by a couple of thin coats of 303 fabric protectant
I only use the 303 every 6 months

I used a "polish" (actually they were from latvia, I asked smile ) establishment to clean mindy's car 2 weeks ago in Milton Keynes, they were using Autoglym products or maybe that's just for show?

Pricey products for them!

It's a pity they aren't from Norfolk, having six webbed fingers on each hand must make it easier to hold a wet soapy sponge hehe

Hmmm,

Here its some washing-up liquid and they do the whole car with just one loaded soapy sponge. That just drags the dirt evenly over the car till they rinse it off.

Ok on the Focus but they are not getting anywhere near my Aston. I find it therapeutic anyway...........if its not raining.

Mind you, if they employed some "Pole" dancers whilst you were waiting.............................

I'll get my coat.
