Just a general question really as the search is borked as usual...

I have heard it mentioned that microfibre on a fibreglass body is a no-no due to static then attracting more dust / particles. How true is this? Should I go back to my chamois and cotton polishing cloths rather than microfible towel and cloths?

Secondly - it never occurred to me, but people seem to be asking about specific products for a particular colour. Do some products work better for one colour than others? If so, for a nice deep glossy shine, what would you recommend for me?

Bin the chamois. After washing pat dry the paint work. It's as it says. Lay the mf drying towel on and pat it. This way it will reduce the static build up on a normal wash routine as well as reduce the drying marring. As for polishing though you'll still get some static build up. If you're that bothered after the polishing and protection stage, simply re-wash the car and pat dry.

Gloss and colour is all about the prep. The lsp (last stage product / protection) only accounts for about 5% of the finished look, if that.

After prepping with a good cleanse and polish of the body, I'd finish with something like Dodo Orange Crush or Banana Armour if you're after a colour charged wax.

Thanks for this.

So my current AG SRP, wax and weekly BoB QD is OK, but go for a colour-charged wax for real glowing colour...?

Tbh it won't make a huge difference, but you can't go wrong with the Dodo range for longevity of protection as well as giving that little extra for being colour charged.

Def no need to SRP every week either (or have I read it wrong?). Do it really well once, get a layer of wax on after, then next week wash and wax. Follow up the week after with another layer of wax and then a maintenance qd after washing for a month or so after that should see you right before needing more wax.

Sorry - no. SRP was on after a strip wash, then waxed over and after a weekly (bi-weekly depending on use) wash I either wax or QD.

Sounds like I'm about there, other than patting dry.

Thanks a lot!!
