"10% discount for all PistonHeads members."

They might as well say ...
"10% discount for anyone with access to the internet ... or a friend who has."
... or ...
"Our fees are 90% of something."

Hi Kiltie.
They might as well say ...
"10% discount for anyone with access to the internet ... or a friend who has."
... or ...
"Our fees are 90% of something."

We encourage people to not tell us they are registered PHers until after getting a quote if they are in any doubt that they'll get the discount. I can see how the ad doesn't give all of that, but our sticky post in SP&TL says a bit more about us and tells them how to make sure they get it. Obviously legal work is very varied, so we can't just quote a price on an ad, but the discount is genuine.
We try to shake a few of the typical greedy lawyer stereotypes!

Cheers

So, an unknown person asks for a quote, you provide one and then he tells you that he is entitled to the "10% PH discount".
What evidence does he have to provide to demonstrate he is a "PH member"?
A large proportion of people registered with PH cannot be easily linked with their profile.
Put it another way. If someone asks you for a quote and then tells you they've never heard of PH; would you advise them to spend thirty seconds registering so you can knock 10% off your price?
I just worry that this "10% PH discount" is, at best, pointless and, at worst, misleading.
Anyway, I don't doubt this topic will disappear shortly on the grounds of me having the temerity to break "rule 12" or something.

Have you not read the sticky? It says they have to be members for at least 6 months to get the discount. What evidence does he have to provide to demonstrate he is a "PH member"?
