Why do I appear to have two, am I special? One is disconnected (see pic) and the other is in the bottom pipe of the swirl pot next to those cable ties, the guage and fans seem to work fine, touch wood. The ecu takes a reading from another sender in the block?

Ecu doesn't know what temp the fans comes on, and that's all the otter switch does, I have two, one on the swirl tank disconnected and one on the rad that is that controls the fans.

My otter is connected to the bottom of the swirl pot not the pipe leading to the radiator

Well it's handy to have a spare, I'll stick a multimeter on it and see if it works biggrin

ISTR someone mentioning having an extra one fitted because they fitted an additional exhaust heat shield or something and the connector interfered?

Thats what I was thinking when I was first looking at it, the one on the bottom definately looks like an afterthought and has different welds compared to the rest of the tank. The heat shield is standard though as far as I can tell, I figured that the bottom one was the only one wired because the side one was getting toasty.

There was a fad a few years ago fitting extra heat shields from Cliff & Steve Heath ~ maybe early fitment problems or home made????

Never paid too much attention TBH as I had mine coated years ago....
