Decided that the steering wheel and knob needed to match the other wood pieces in my Aston, so here's the result. Matches oddments lid very well.

Will go nicely with this pipe ...

wink

In all seriousness though fair play to you. Although it's not my cup of tea, it looks like a quality job and it's nice to see people not frightened of customising their AM to their personal taste smile

Yes indeed, top quality woodwork...and not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for.

Steve, can you post a picture that shows the whole wheel?

How's this(don't have any other photos at the moment)? Nothing to see at the top of the wheel since I chose to not have wood on that section so that the perforated leather of the wheel stayed intact. I thought wood and smooth leather and wood and perf leather would be too much going on, so kept the wood confined to the lower half, and this way the entire upper half has the good purchase of leather for quick wheel work.

I'll take a couple shots of the wheel and knob installed and post those...

Nice. Is that a small chip on the wood in the 7 o'clock position where it touches the leather or is it just a bad reflection in the photograph?

I'm still contemplating doing the same thing with my wheel, except using piano black, and also putting piano black in the 10 to 2 o'clock positions with Alcantara everywhere else. Sun reflections be damned! Could be my next summer project. biggrin

No chip, just a photo artifact. Work is flawless.

If my wheel had been the same leather type all over, I probably wood (biggrin) have had wood at the top. This seems a little more subtle.
