Engine loom route
Discussion
I need a little help, in brief - a simple cam change has turned into a full engine rebuild thanks to my failed cam bearings;
.
Engine went back in at the weekend;
.
I am however now in need of assistance with the engine loom route and plug/earth/sensor location's. Most is pretty intuitive , but not all. if anyone has images of their engine bay wiring i would be most grateful for a look see. If anyone can recommend do's and dont's for the first start post build i'm all ears/eyes?
Ta.

Wow you're brave!!!
My technical knowledge is limited, but I would recommend you replace the fuel hoses, upgrade the battery wiring, replace the heat shield on the bulkhead and inner wings, do the manifold gaskets and engine mounts (if not too late)... I'm sure you'll find more.
As for earths, the ones I know about are just near the rear off-side wheel arch (chassis), behind the tensioner pulley and oil pressure switch on the block and on the inside of the car on the transmission mound, just under the dash (several bolted together). This is also near where the ECU loom enters the engine bay via a large rubber grommet.
I'd like to find where the other earths are myself!

I'd be interested in any photos and wiring location. Im dropping an engine back in at the weekend, but I didnt take it out so no idea where it all goes...
the engine loom is fairly basic though from what i remember retro fitting a rangy loom into the tuscan.
im unsure how the 100amp fuse and the starter feed all fits together though, as the fuse holder was disconnected and left on the engine mount which is still with the original engine somewhere...

I believe there's one right on the front end of the chassis where the bottom chassis rail and bottom front crossmember join.
I've been thinking of tucking away a couple of big, high-current bolt-down terminal blocks - one for a solid +'ve feed and one for a good ground - in the nose of the car for use by the lights and fans and anything else that may end up in there.

The engine bay is in pretty good fettle and in 6 years i've never has a start issue so all the batt wiring is staying put ( if it ain't broke etc) I intend to have the body off in 4 or 5 years so major O/haul then. I'm ok with the earth locations its the loom route round and onto the alternator, past the water pump. There's also large P clip which bolts to the ??? Any images welcome, or if theres a Chimaera owner in the Rickmansworth area who'd allow me to come and make some reference notes?

I made this up from my V8S if it helps - pre cat so no lambda's but can't be too far off I'd have thought.

I think the P clip you're referring to is near the belt tensioner. The clip itself bolts to the water pump (see image attached). The cables come from the rubber grommet, over the bell housing, down each side of the intake manifold. The one on the drivers side then runs around the side of the alternator, behind the belt tensioner and is then bolted to the water pump. I think that this then runs behind the pump, near the oil pressure switch.The engine bay is in pretty good fettle and in 6 years i've never has a start issue so all the batt wiring is staying put ( if it ain't broke etc) I intend to have the body off in 4 or 5 years so major O/haul then. From Grommet
P-Clip
Routing Near Alternator
Routing Near Water Pump
Behind pump, where cables split towards various switches etc
Earth to engine block, behind oil pressure switch (disconnected switch in photo!)

Thank you all, I'll be nailing it this weekend.
Did you managed to get it done? I'm at that stage too: refitting everything that someone else took apart! I did a dry run of lowering onto the chassis today to see if I have everything lined up correctly.I've got a few adjustments to make to brake, clutch and fuel lines but the engine loom leaves me baffled!
Did you take any pics of the route of your engine loom? Would you be able to post them?
Many thanks

Started Today! Sounded smooth oil px good with no fluid leaks. Won't idle though. Review of all plenum hoses and reset base idle. The loom is pretty easy to route, the power steering hose was a bugger. I'll probable review the route when the idle issue is sorted. Ill post some pics over the coming days. Any thoughts on no idle? I've fitted ACT carbon trumpets and a stealth cam, i can't imagine that would affect the idle.
