Hi, I went to view a cerb recently and could n't get comfy in the drivers seat (too little legroom), it seemed to me that the seat did n't go back as far as it did in a previous example I've tried (which was fine). I guess another reason for this could be pedals set an inch or two closer to the driver. Does anybody know if there are differences between Cerbs with respect to pedal box or seat positioning?

I'm 6 foot 5 so if there are common differences I need to be asking about these before I go to view cars - save myself a trip.

Thanks,

Ralph

The pedals, at least the brake and clutch as standard, are adjustable by an inch or two but the drivers seat should go a long way back. So far back that I don't recall having ever heard of anyone being short of leg room. The usual problem is not being able to reach the pedals with the seat fully forward.

It sounds to me like there was a problem with the seat runners in the example you looked at. There are two styles of seat though and it is possible that the seating position is different with the later 'Tuscan' seats.

Yep, my feeling was that the seat runners had been affected or were being blocked by the racing harness that was fitted. Usually the seats go back so that the rear passengers have maybe a couple of inches of legroom but this one seemed to give them a good six inches.

Certainly sounds like it. The Cerb doesn't have a pedal box as such, it's the individual pedals that are adjustable by screwing the pad in or out of the arm. The original throttle on a lot of cars doesn't even have this adjustment though.

I have a clip in harness on eye-bolts in the seatbelt mounts on my car and it doesn't affect the travel of the seat, however it is very tight to fit and I can well see that a harness could stop the seat moving.

Have the seats been swapped around this reduces the rear movement and interference with belt mounts.

If the race belt loops are a problem you might try these mounts

I have these on the tunnel and B post fitting points, they are FIA approved and have always passed scrutinering.

Maybe if you 7ft 7" you would have issues with legroom in a Cerb but under that and you should be fine. Mine is a later car with the Tuscan seats and with the seat all the way back I can't even reach the pedals. I am close to 6ft

I’m 6’ 4” & as said above the seat should easily go back far enough for you.

The only problem I have is seeing traffic lights, the very low top of the windscreen bocks your view up, not helped be having the seat so far back! The later Cerbs had a different design around the top of the screen to help this issue.

Also the later ones with the Tuscan seats have (I think) removable bases in the seat is you can still fit in the car with a crash helmet on. Wish I had a later one sometimes…
