AML - NEW CAR UK SALES
Discussion
Interesting. So Jon, we can see that UK sales are up marginally on last year, do you happen know how it compares with sales of other supercars in the UK? My reason for asking is to test my theory that Aston sales are up, not as an indicator of any national economic upturn, maybe more to do with the Centenary year and new models,,,,,,dunno.

Sales volume gives a narrow view.
Take Ferrari, they have reduced volume as they perceived that producing too many cars diluted and diminished their brand.
Record profits have followed and limiting supply has no doubt protected residuals for current owners, a position no doubt that hasn't gone unnoticed at Gaydon but one that eludes AML until they can bring their cars up to date.
It's a pity we can't have the technology of a 12C wrapped up in a design with the emotional content of an AML car

The August figures have been added to the table.
Presumably the low figures during August, are due to a factory holiday.
I cannot believe that new Aston Martin customers, would delay delivery to obtain a 63 registration.
A 63 registration,,,non intellego. Presumably the low figures during August, are due to a factory holiday.

Hmmm, seems to be against the general trend in August, but then I strictly speaking 26 -> 31 is actually greater than the reported 10.9% national jump.

So, I work in the Automotive industry on advanced engine development for a major OE supplier. I have access to build figures by engine/vehicle/gearbox type and a whole bunch of other variations from 2010 with predictions out to 2020. last three year data is real, while the actual year is updated quarterly (don't have 4th quarter yet for 13). I cannot break it out by the region or country where it was sold as my interest is where it is made, but if people are interested once I have 4th quarter data I can post it for AM. Bear in mind that my data is when it was built, not when it was sold, two very different things.
Example:
in 2012, 1529 Vantage's were built of which 339 were V12's; all manual. of the V8's 543 were Sportshift.
The expectation for Vantage builds in 2013 was 1334. That is market expectation, not what AM were planning.
Let me know if this is of interest to the forum.

This site tells you registered and SORNd for that matter by model by quarter in the UK. I've just picked the v8 vantage but you can get any car

Jan '13 figures were particularly boosted by the first batch of Vanquishes, which were quite literally queuing up to be registered for a couple of weeks beforehand. I was at Stratstones Wilmslow service department on Xmas eve 2012 to see mine come off the transporter from Gaydon and saw loads of them waiting for delayed registration in Jan, for the sake of a week or so (particularly bearing in mind the bad weather at the time) to have a 2013 car rather than a 2012 one
They were also boosted by quite a few of the V12V Roadsters being registered in Jan
I appreciate there will be some V12VSs and Vanquish Volantes falling into that category this year, but I'm guessing nowhere near as many as last year. So I can see a huge drop this Jan compared to Jan last year.
