Vantage V8 Bamford Rose Performance Upgrage Reviews Anyone?

Looking at buying a Vantage when the sale goes through on my GT3, and I hear that BR do some very good performance options.

Can anyone give me some feedback on there exhaust mods and also the active suspension kit please

If there is anyone near oxford who has this I would love to be taken out for a spin if possible too.

I was looking at getting a N400, but a standard car is starting to sound like a good idea and then I can put the difference in price better a well specced 4.3 and the N400 into BR Modifications.

Thanks again.

Have you read the BR sticky at the top of the page yet?

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

There is plenty of info and users' reviews in there. If you've still got any questions, I'm sure that the BR owners would be more than happy to wax lyrical for you.

Also, try and pick up a copy of the current Vantage magazine. There is a (highly complimentary) write up of a BR'd Vantage S in there.

(But please be warned - you will never get a Vantage to drive like a GT3. They are much heavier cars).

There must be at least 50 glowing reviews on here from V8 and V12 owners! biglaugh

Mine is a HEAVILY modified V12 (DB9) so can't help you really on the V8 except to say that the quality of the work is first rate, the knowledge they have (as Aston's orginal powertrain designers) is unsurpassed, and the difference in performance on the car is night and day!

This months 'Vantage' magazine has a good spread on them and the work done to a V8S. It will be 4 quid well spent for you!

I know i will never get the Vantage to be like the GT3, the GT3 is a special bit of kit. To be honest im not sure if im doing the right thing in selling it, but hey ho, its going to a nice chap and ive had it for 5.5 years so fancy a change.

Didnt even know there was a "Vantange" magazine, and totally missed the BR thread frown

Cheers for info

I've got a lightly BR'd N400. I'm in London, and happy to give you a spin if you're down this way, but the roads round me are very congested, so it won't be a good demo of the performance frown

The N400 only gets 400hp with 100 octane fuel, which is very rare here - I get about 390 with 97. I mainly went with an N400 because you get the sports suspension, the desirable N400 wheels, better noise* and a few other options guaranteed. I dislike the 4.7 interior too - the silly ECU thing and the metal trimmed knobs get on my nerves.

I had the new BR catalyists, but not manifolds fitted (it's a recent option, don't think it's on their site), and that took my car up to 410hp with normal fuel.

However, it's not really the HP that's noticeable, it's more the low-end torque, and the noise.

I've also got the BR multiplate clutch, and lighter flywheel. They're excellent around town and when pushing on.

  • The N400 has a different backbox, so even when the exhaust has been BR'd it sounds a bit different to a normal 4.3 or 4.7.

Has anyone on here got first hand experience of the 4.3 to 4.7 conversion BR do for the V8V?

And Jibberingloon, would something like that be a mod too far on a potential car in your eyes? (I'mm just trying to think of future issues I may have when it comes to selling)

I think if I like the 4.3 enough and i do spend a large chunk of money on it then it would have to be a keeper.

So if I got carried away a 4.7 would be an option in the long term, but the Manifold / Cats / Exhaust / Suspension was my intial thoughts.

You guys need to talk to Pommehogster (Ben) about Jessica

IME of vantage and various BR upgrade paths I'd say go for an early 4.7 (sport pack if you can find it) and do the N400 intake, manifolds & cats
Best "bang for buck" in a later car wink

Bamford Boys, I love ya....... But it's taken nearly a month to get a quote for three Aston upgrades despite a couple of gentle reminder emails. Hope you're not getting to big / busy to cope. Just sayin'

I have to agree here - the BR team is no doubt super nice and extremely talented... but communication has always been extremely frustrating... no answer for days or even weeks to emails or phone calls :/ Such a great business but I believe that is the one point that really needs sorting out in order for the good BR name not to suffer - someone who takes care of communication in a rapid manner so customers stay informed throughout any process of dealing with BR.
Does not have to be a blonde as described above rolleyes

Btw - Mike, if you are reading this: still need an answer urgently of my text regarding Sat so I can arrange things smile

Paddy is a busy boy. I know he's getting pretty booked up, including me next week smile

He has two email addresses so may be worth sending messages to both, and he does answer his mobile now and then.

Buy Vantage magazine! I was the proud owner of Purdy my truly fantastic V8S. When the enhancement s were completed by BR the first passenger ride to demonstrate the amazing improvement was my good friend Andy who ironically owns a GT3. On their return he was truly amazed.

As an aside Purdey boasted 460 BHP , INCREASED TORQUE, vastly improved handling, so very quick revving. Reduction in overall weight.
