Sagaris service.
Discussion
The time has come for me to think about a service for my Sag, and due to the mileage covered(or lack of it!) I would like to get some advice on what to do!?
The story of my car is that it was originally supplied in Northern Ireland, and unfortunately(for him!) the car was repossessed and put into storage by the finance company. The car was eventually bought by HHC in 2010, who recommisioned it with the mileage being 5,002.
The next service was carried out at HHC on the 10/4/2012 with a mileage of 6,389. I purchased the car on 1/5/2012.
The mileage now is 7,600, so only 1,200 miles since the last service!
Would you bother to get it serviced already?
If you did, would you just get a basic oil change type service?
Or would you get a full service carried out regardless?
I want the car looked after properly, and, if something needs attending, it will be, but, I am unfortunately, not in a money's no object situation!
I am however.. dyslexic!

What was the last service carried out? Was it a full 12k, full 6k or a low mileage service? I don't do many miles so my service regime, will be low mileage 6k followed by a full 12k, obviously if I do more miles I'll change it accordingly.
ETA Who to use? HHC or STR8SIX, both excellent choices

Hi Rodney. Best to have the garage check it out once a year regardless of mileage/use. If it's had a major 12k last time, then a 6k will keep your service book looking good as well as keeping everything optimum. Certain stuff deteriorates with lack of use rather than plenty of use (bushes, hoses, fuel lines, fluids etc). The beauty of STR8SIX is that they will go through everything and make you aware of what might need attention in the near future, as well as any immediate issues. "Prevention is better than the cure", an' all that! Once they have a grasp of where the car's at (in respect of its general and also overall condition) then the rest is about keeping it in optimum condition and thereby hopefully reducing the risk of it needing anything too major and excessively costly in the future. It's a program of expected versus suspected works to be carried out. I've only done 2,500 since STR8SIX did a 12k exactly a year ago, but, in what has become an annual event now, I will be visiting STR8SIX for a 6k service on route to the Le Mans 24hr. It has become part of the whole event for me and the car now! Believe me, if you're keeping the car, you'll save yourself money in the long run.
BTW, you haven't taken the Porker off your profile yet. Just a friendly reminder

If this is the first time the car has been serviced in your owndership I would go for a full 12,000 mile service plus all fluids changed. That is the only way you know it is right to start with. Then have it serviced to the standard schedule, i.e, every 6000 miles or annually, whichever comes first.

Hi Mark, what sort of costs are involved
6k £45012k £1200+
I have done two of each at Power, that's what it has cost me on my Tam .
Hope that helps
Dale
6k back in 2011 at STR8SIX £325 basic
12k last year at STR8SIX £625 basic
These are base prices and obviously you have to expect some "extras" that need addressing. Jason will give you a breakdown, then it's up to you what work you and he feel is urgent, or not so urgent. Always found them to be honest and totally transparent, so fear not.

Str8-six is the place to service your car , never mind the distance or price , many of us travel 300-400 mile return journeys or simply use the enclosed vehicle collection service.G

I would not trust my baby to anybody else. Although I am sure there are other very good TVR specialists out there (and I have used some of them in the past with my old Tuscan), for me STR8SIX have proven themselves to be ultra professional and very highly skilled technicians. Despite the distance, I always feel that my money is best spent there. I thought I was mega critical until I met Graham V, so you can take it from both of us, STR8SIX are a class act and second to none.Edited to add: Do you really want to leave anything to chance with such a prized car? Or use an unknown or partially known entity?

That can't be a 12k service. IMHO you just can't do a full 12k for £400Legacywr said:
No, but, I also have to do the best for my car and asset!
So, you have the answer, anything but STR8-Six is false economy. They are competitive.
The downside:-
They tell you absolutley everything that's wrong with your car, that will need doing now, or in the future.
The upside:-
Not everything will need to be done now.
They only do things that you agree to.
You will be impressed
You will need to go further North for similar others
