With the sun out in Scotland, particularly the West Coast does anyone have any suggestions for a nice, quiet area where I can go to pop down a blanket and have some home made sandwiches with the family. Preferably along the Clyde coast. Obvious suggestions would be Luss, Loch Lomond, Helensburgh, Gourock and Ayrshire coast towns. These areas are usually jam packed and the roads also tailed back as the fist sight of sun draws everyone out. Does anyone have any suggestions of an alternative or your favourite place to go with the family when the sun is out?

If it is so nice why are all those people paddling away from shore!

Scots trying to escape the sun?

No, they've heard rumoured plans of vote rigging on 18/09/14 likely to result in a "Yes" majority.

Thanks L22KMD for the heads up. RPE11Y, we ended up at Seamill today and got a great place on the beach. We were looking over at Arran, what sort of stuff is on to do? It looks beautiful especially on a day like today!

That's the village I live in most of the week. If anyone does ever come over to Arran, please pop in to my design studio/gift shop at Brodick Pier and say hello. I always see lots of cars that are obviously doing a run/meet but rarely get the chance to say "hi" to the drivers. smile

Now, I'm letting you chaps in on a big secret here...

If you drive to Tarbet on Loch Lomond then take a right, heading towards Ardlui, when you leave Tarbet there is a small rocky outcrop on the right hand side (you can drive your car into it). In amongst the rocks there is a tiny wee grassy area, enough to pitch a wee fishing shelter and put a blanket out (space for campfire too). It looks right down the loch and is very secluded. Quite stunning and peaceful.

Don't all go at once though- that space is mine!!!

Seriously though, you'd be hard pushed to find a better spot!
