Hey all,

Right as a kid (0-12 years) I went on loads of trips with family around Scotland and for the life of my I can't remember half the names of the places I've been.

So, suggestions of picturesque/awesome places to go (castles and stuff)!

Cheers!

I don't think this topic will meet your expectations unless you're a wee bit more specific.

We have 78,387km² ... go on, narrow it down a bit.

No, I'm not looking for you guys to tell me where I've been, more like where should I go!

I've hardly been out of Edinburgh/Glasgow in the past 6 years...I'm ashamed to say

OK then, tomorrow, you should see the "Old Man of Hoy" in the morning and then go for lunch in Machrihanish.

Cheers,

Cheeky!

Been to Mach a few times for camps on the base there...the seven hour coach trip was never fun.

That's a shame because I was going to recommend you go to the Findhorn Foundation for one of their walks to a woodland clearing to watch the fairies and sylphs. smile

Skerryvore light house is nice this time of year.

In all seriousness though. Try starting out easily.
A trip to new Lanark is nice.

Or Hopetoun House

If you want a night away Applecross is really nice or Plockton up on the west coast.

Well I've given up on this thread...but photos of that incident would be amusing to see!

Buy a Historic Scotland membership, visit Edinburgh & Stirling castles to recoup the membership fee, then spend the rest of the year going round less tourist-infested, but lovely places such as Linlithgow Palace, Craigmillar castle, etc.
