Heat shield

Demon Tweeks, but as already mentioned, the gains are minimal.

The only real benefit I think you'll see with be on the rolling road. In these some what artificial conditions, the hose gets very hot, due to its proximity to the manifold. It may help you in very heavy traffic.

I have to say it does make a difference, but only on the first "stab" of the throttle away from the lights. But thats childish and therefore i do not have a wad of heatshield around my intake pipe!

If you're stuck in traffic or use her on daily commutes in motorway bumper-to-bumper scenarios, heatshielding things does help IMO... but like already said, once on the move, negligible advantages... but if a fire was to take place, you could save a few things in the time it takes to get the extinguisher out... mmmm....

The silicone hose itself has quite a good insulation value compared to the original thin corrugated pipes. I'm not sure how much benefit there would be from extra shielding, but I can't see it doing any harm. If it was close to the manifold it might be worth shielding it anyway to prevent heat damage (silicone is pretty heat tolerant but exhaust heat is asking a bit much of it).

It's also less of a problem on the Griffith than it is on the Chimaera, as I've seen on Austec's rolling road.
