Been looking for another air filter as the one on my s3 is shot to bits, and the foam is breaking down.

Is the only option a Pipercross c3004 (now appears to be a PX300)?

I assume mine is still standard, and currently has the oil breather pipe plumbed in to the side of the air filter.

Is there anything from K&N?

As this is related, what do you do about the oil breather pipe? Torn between leaving it as was designed with the oil breather pipe going directly to the air filter, or introducing an oil catch tank for the breather. Is the catch tank worth the effort and cost, and if so what is the best type to go for.

Or do both. smile Breather in rocker box. And catch tank piped into manifild. This a 3c and the tank is piped into the emissions pipe work.

Ahh , I have been asking myself this same question. I got a second hand replacement filter but it is not fitted with the breather attachment, so will read replies with interest.

I just ran the breather pipe straight down the bulkhead, cable tied to a chassis tube. I attached a temporary plastic bottle for a couple of months but as no oil came out of the breather i removed the bottle and left the breather open to the air. That was a few years ago and still no oil on the garage floor.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Is Pipercross the only filter option. I assume they come without the breather pipe attachment and you have to add this yourself - is that right?

Forget the breather pipe, just stick this on the outlet of the rocker cover...

I agree. Remove the oil breather pipe from the filler cap, and fit a small filter directly onto the stub on the filler cap. I used an ASH mini oil breather air filter, mounting size 12mm. Ebay about £4.50
