I’m just changing the seals in mine as it’s all out, I wasn’t aware of it having any problems when the car was on the road, it’s only done 7k miles since they were last done (with the uprated seals). But the bell housing was clearly wet with fluid & once they were out is there was lots of rubber remains in the bottom of the piston, the like of which had made it back up to the master cylinder last time they actually failed on me.

There is no scoring on the slave cylinder bores, it looks perfectly smooth but when I run my finger over the surface I can feel the machining marks, so much so that moving my figure in the direction of piston travel it actually makes a noise it’s so rough. So I’m wondering if it’s worth polishing this face up a little to save the seals being grated on it as they move. Or do the seals need a slightly rough surface for some reason? I’m not too good with hydraulics….

Ah Race Proved uprated one has this in the blurb “All seal surfaces are micropolished and PTFE coated for low drag actuation”

So I guess that rough surface I can feel could well be the problem, think I will polish mine up & see how long it lasts with new uprated seals...

Changed mine 20000 miles ago to an uprated one, no clutch problems since and is a lot more drivable.
