After some absolute W***KER decided to not once but twice key the side of mine (Yellow 911 GT3) and several other cars in the town centre in Darlington (see the Northern Echo website). I am now needing to at the very least respray the full passenger side of my car or most likely due to the damage caused go for a full respray. This leads me to a bit of a dilemma as I have been playing with the idea for a while of getting a full respray in either Riviera blue (as below)

Viper Green

or my favourite at present Orange

Firstly the main problem is my interior at present is red which against the yellow at present looks really good (in my opinion anyway) but it certainly wouldnt go with any of the three possible colour options. So what I need is a good recommendation of a preferably local company that can do a good paintjob and secondly a company that can recolour my interior to black. I have checked on prices or simply replacing the seats and they aint that badly priced but this doesnt help with the red dashboard etc.

So can anybody recommend somebody and if so have you got images of recent work done.

Oh that sucks. I hope they catch the scrote and cut his balls off with a bacon slicer.

That green is soooo sexy...

If you don't mind travelling a bit Ian Ellis at Elvington near York is worth considering.

He's looked after some proper metal for respray, had DB5 for a full respray in one time I was getting some work done.

Big porsche fan as well.

I dont mind travelling if the job is going to be done right first time (previous repairs on old cars have required rework) and York isnt too far away from me. You dont have any pics of recent work do you?

Its actually a woman that is doing this to cars in the local area. She's been up in court twice already and received a slap on the wrist and a trip to the naughty step. The second time my car was keyed (Saturday 8th) was only a day after (Friday 7th) she was bailed out of court for the same offence to other cars. Apparently she has some mental issues!!!!!

Sorry I've not, but I'd imagine Ian would have if you give him a shout.

The car was a one off custom order in Pastel Yellow with Flamenco red interior (5k extra on the original sales invoice) and I have never seen another in the UK in the same colour.

You know now you mention it I think there may have been a carrera 3.4 in that colour scheme-it rings a bell somehow?! Love pastel yellow myself (same as the other half's beetle!) & I think the thing with your car us its unique colour scheme-why change it?

It's certainly the most unique GT3 I've ever seen & would look great next to the rubystone, barraitz white & blu de islands ones.

If you don't mind traveling, Lee Cox at Station Road Bodyshop in Kipax (near Leeds) is worth considering. He carried out a rear seat conversion on my GT3. When I went to collect it, he had just finished doing a colour change on a 997 Turbo. From Silver to White.

Hang on a minute, has that GT3 got a rear wiper? wink

Yes it has a rear wiper and a sunroof (more optional extras) the original bill of sale I have for the car runs into two sheets with all the options ticked. It is a very unique car, one which I fell for when I first spotted it mainly due to the fact that I have never seen another Porsche of any model in this colour never mind a GT3 and readily traded in my TVR Tuscan for. But after a few car shows and seeing other colours (Orange & Green) specifically im leaning towards something a bit more in your face so to speak.

Thanks for the info Lee Cox has some good reviews (looking on Google) and does seem to offer a good job at a fair price. Think I might have to give him a call tomorrow.

I think the blue would look ok with the red interior but I'd be tempted to go for a good wrap instead, so as to keep the car original (of increased importance on one so distinctive). It's up to you whether you bother having the scratch painted first - if you do then you'd probably be advised to wait a week or two (more?) for the paint to fully cure first, but I'd save the money and just get it wrapped now. For under 2 grand it'll look like a completely different car and not be at all devalued for being non-original. smile

White? You could keep the interior then.

Or Fashion Grey? Seems to be rather in fashion right now, ahem. Should be nice with the red too.

I think you should keep the original colour.
Also, it is usually cheaper to sell a car and get one the colour you want, especially for interiors.

wrt recolouring the dash...

Have you discounted taking the dash out and having it re-covered?

Example here...

http://www.sellerie-cimes.fr/realisations.php?albu...

You can have some vinyl/leather trim pieces re-coloured but not sure if the best results are acheived with these pieces in-situ as they presumably need to be sprayed.

On the following link, the results look impressive but it mentions 200hrs of work so the man maths must have involved calculus.

Interesting comments guys thanks. I am becoming more inclined just to leave it in its original colour as much for resale value as anything else as personally I think I would be put off buying a car which had had a full full respray in a different colour with the thought of why this was. As for wrapping the car you do hear some horror stories about wraps being removed and taking much of the paint off the car along with it so im not so sure I would go along that route.
An interesting discovery I have made though is that I can make a claim with my insurance for "malicious damage" and this will not affect my premium which is due in August. From what I can gather this is something to do with the insurance company being able to claim for this themselves as it is a crime.

Lovely car OP, sorry to hear of your issues, I am currently based in Darlington and have a Cobalt blue C2 late 996, will be careful where i leave it, can i ask where this happened?

Apparently a really good paint shop run by an ex Porsche employee is based in Sunderland, mine needs a few bits done and i have his number somewhere, will dig it out.
