I'm attempting to fit a 086 battery which means I need to modify or replace the existing battery retaining bracket. Does anyone know what the two bolts that hold the metalwork to the body shell. Is it the dreaded rivnut. or is it regular nuts? If it's normal nuts can you shed any light on how you access it, (passenger footwell perhaps?)

You can see them above the ecu. Just peel back the insulation, although they are bonded in, caution on moving them as you'll have holes right above the ecu I have a spare bracket as I made a new one from stainless.

Cool, cheers Peter. I thought they might be. I did have a dig around in there today but with the car in it's garage and a twinge in my back I didn't really fancy spending much time upside down in there today. I'll make sure I seal the holes after whatever modification I go for.

Yeah not easy. Better off leaving them and drilling new holes for riv-nuts.

I was planning on moving the racket inboard to suit the new battery length and drilling new hole in the metal thus allowing the existing holes in the body shell to be re-used.

Does anyone know where to get the battery clamp? Mines missing and the usual sources don't seem to stock them.
