Cosford airshow.

Was aware this was on today, and have since found out the Vulcan bomber was there which is a bit special. Anyway my question as I don't know much/anything, as I was traveling down the M54, a massive plane, flew over the Motorway, banking over awesome to watch everyone slowed down a looked up to watch it. But was it the Vulcan bomber? If anyone was there, it was flanked by two other smaller planes! Would have been about 4ish.

They left Welshpool along with XH558 about 15.50.

I think they're still up there Eric, I've not been to a show over the last few years that wasn't pretty busy.Same can't be said for fishing which is in massive decline (not surprised as its boring as hell!)

Well it sold out. And the few "on the gate" tickets had gone not long after 8:00.Having intended to get tickets during the week, I was quite miffed with myself yesterday, but glad I didn't turn up to pay on the gate!

This was the info they were giving out on the Cosford radio, however we stayed in the traffic as it was impossible to turn round and we eventually got into the entrance by the athletics track and rail station at about 11.00 am, they were selling tickets on the gate and there was plenty of room for several hundred more cars in the car park.Having intended to get tickets during the week, I was quite miffed with myself yesterday, but glad I didn't turn up to pay on the gate!

We'd have come in by train so would have been no traffic as such for us. :miffed:
I wrote a 'bloodyangryofbrum' type rant last night but decided I wouldn't bother
Queueing the A5 from the Noted Ham And Eggery for three hours was bad enough, three hours to get out afterwards was simply ludicrously bad ground controlling
But the show was good, maybe even as good as some I attended in the eighties (been a while for me..)
I took hundreds of pictures, all pretty dire TBH

We went so my gaffer could see her favourite aeroplane
Not the best photograph of the day
but pretty conclusive evidence I will never be a Bailey, Beaton or Lichfield

But too tightly cropped maybe
The Dakota made my missus happy, her first flight was to France in one of the old Derby Airways Daks back in the sixties
I wont be going to a Cosford Air Show again though, it let the RAF's organising reputation down terribly IMO, thank God they are better at fighting than traffic handling.

I was born in Cosford, in 1960. 
Just thought I'd throw that in.
My dad worked at Cosford for decades, and he collected and assembled a lot of the electronic cockpit pieces that are/were on display in the museum at various times over the years. He spent years teaching avionics and suchforth there and snaffled/snagged/saved/stole all sorts of bits and pieces as planes were dismantled or upgraded.

RAF, Highways and Police all apparently have a number of meetings about the traffic management and the event in general, one of the RAF section heads said he had lots of feedback to give to his bosses 90% about the traffic. I consider that we where lucky to see as much of the display as we did, arriving just before the Sabre and leaving as the blades etc took off to go home. That said we had planned to be there not long after gates opened at about 9am and didn't get in until 2pm.

we used a bit of local knowledge and turned round on the A41 south and tried the back way in, which saved us about 2 hours I reckon.If we hadnt bought tickets, and it wasn't potentially the last year of vulcan flying, we probably would have gone home.
