As part of a weekend in London that coincided with my wife's birthday I booked The Ivy for lunch on Saturday.
Having read mixed reviews I went with an open mind.
On arrival I must admit the place didn't look much from the outside but once inside that didn't matter.
The atmosphere was relaxed and unpretentious. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, efficient and
engaging.
The food was excellent.
Overall the experience was hugely enjoyable and the bill......? Surprisingly reasonable and not the three figures my wife thought it would be!
Would definitely visit again.

That pretty much sums up my trip there as well, it was good and I would go back.

Did you have to book or just rock up?

I booked a few days before via The Ivy website and checked the time slot availability for the day.
Very efficient system.

It's not the place it once was in terms of the place to be seen so its not as busy. Food is still decent though

Went on Monday night with an old friend for the first time in absolutely ages, had relatively simple food but was very well done and exquisite ingredients. At 3 figures a head though I was surprised it was still so much given the aforementioned fall it it's 'fashion' stakes of late; although it did remind me why I like eating in proper restaurants rather than restaurants in hotels which is something. Still highly recommendable.

and lets be honest - The Ivy was cool to be seen in in about 2002

Didn't particularly enjoy my visit - felt like everyone was cheek by jowl with each other - as if they had 2 or 3 tables too many.
