Does anyone work in an accident repair garage? My mum had a very minor bump in the supermarket carpark exchanged details looked at other car's damage - small dent knocked headlight out of alignment. Thought wouln't cost much so had a copy of the garage invoice sent to her from her insurers so she could pay it and not lose any no claims. The repair cost £350.00 and the garage (insurers preferred) described the damage severity as medium. Can any one tell me what medium damage is defined as - I think she's been stitched up.

Depends mate, I work in a parts department so deal with accident centers. You can smash the whole light and as long as the beam isnt altered all it would need is a new lens, however, if the actual beam itself is moved or broken then a new headlamp is in order, around £200 depending on car, plus fitting. Could be about right.
