Old C Class estates
Discussion
Anyone got one? After having the OH's car written off yesterday by the lorry driver who doesn't speak English, I'm looking for a Merc estate up to around £1500. There's a couple of 2 litre kompressor models that look like they're in reasonable nick from the pictures, can't see too much rust, but I've never so much as looked at a supercharged engine in these so any pointers from the PH beards would be much appreciated.
Here's a couple for starters

They've got the M111 supercharged engine which also appeared in the CLK and SLK AFAIK. They're a bit gruff but pretty reliable. The 722.6 gearbox with tiptronic is also supposed to be more reliable than earlier iterations. Check the body for rust around the wheelarches and bottoms of the doors.

Well I took a punt on an X plate car, no tiptronic but the rust is present and correct. Actually not that bad and it drives very nicely, 95,00 on the clock, 2 previous owners. No socket for the wheel locks so I'm off to the dealers before I get a puncture.Gassing Station | Mercedes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
