Hi - my Griff 500 is "chuffing" from both the large diameter exhaust to Y piece clamps - can anyone tell me if there is a gasket
in the joint ? or how to seal them up.
Thanks
Jim

Two types.

1) Early bolt ups with gaskets

2) Later (more common) band clamps

With the later band clamp type, just loosen, pull together with a ratchet strap & tap the band clamp with a soft faced hammer as you tighten.

Bringing the manifolds together and taking up the tension with the ratchet strap (rather than expecting the band clamp to do it) is the secret to success in my opinion.

A band clamp is a good sealing system, the problem is TVR made the Y piece a bit too narrow to fit precisely between the manifolds without a bit of help from a ratchet strap.

Conversely I understand a Clive Ford Y piece fits perfectly without any ratchet strap help, unlike TVR he measured up correctly wink

Releasing the exhaust to chassis bolt under the Y piece may make it easier to screw up the manifolds to the Y piece. Managed mine without straps with longish levers located against suspension bolts also using some short bits of square tubing as spacers.

Sounds like the answer, mine are the later type banded clamps , didn't think to help push them on to ease the pipe fit before clamping up.
Will try that at the weekend,
cheers
