Can't quite believe it, both pumps failed.

Ok, I have just had the top of the fuel system apart for a few days, so assume that they must have dried out. Now one sounds like a pile of cr4p and the other blows a 10A fuse, net result no fuel! Still I suppose 9 years and 21K miles is just too much.

So does anyone happen to know what the Carter pumps supplied by Ultima are, I am assuming I have the up rated ones for 500 odd hp, I suspect that means they are the 100gph 8psi ones but would love to hear confirmation.

Many thanks
Phil.

If you have had 9 years out of those pumps I think you may have had your money's worth.

I have a tractor that has had to have new low pressure fuel pumps every 2 years (it has finally been redesigned at last!!!).

I would give Richard a call and get a new pair. Factory prices usually not that far out.

Bit odd for them to go at the same time?!

I think they are 5 psi units from memory - and 100 gph is more than enough, especially if you have two running in parallel.

My early GTR is fitted with Facet pumps, the factory option at the time of the build. A few years ago when attending the Donington show a pump failed on the way up. No panic, I have a second pump, unfortunately that failed on the way home, on the M1. Being a classic Mini fan I thought I would try the tried and tested method for reviving the old SU electric pumps, on the Facet, i.e. give it a good thump. Hey presto, the pump ticked into life. I had to repeat this every 10 miles or so, much to the amusement of one artic driver who would give me a loud blast on the horn as he passed the stationary GTR, only for me to reciprocate when I overtook him a few miles down the road. I least I got home.

Yes a bit odd indeed, but at the mo I can not think of any reasons. It always makes me laugh when 'we' talk about discounting double failures in the auto industry, as it always seems to bl00dy happen!

My left pump responds to the tapping trick for a bit, but it still sounds like a bag of nails and shifts virtually now fuel at all. The right one must have seized as it takes out the fuse everytime!

I dumped both my pumps (blade type) because they got stupid noisy for no reason, in favour of a holley gear wheel type - more expensive, but much quieter, and no recurring problem as yet!

Can't hear my in-tank pump at all. The h/p pump only runs until it gets to 60psi then stops until needed and you can't hear it over the engine!

Rather smug look until pump fails..................
