A friend of my daughter reversed into side of her car causing £1700 damage to my daughters car but no damage to friends LR tank

Will friend have to pay excess to her insurers to cover my daughters claim?

So used to claims where both cars are damaged could not answer question with confidence when asked

The insurance company of whoever is at fault pays. If their policy includes an excess, they [the policy holder who is at fault] pay that.

So yes, if your daughter's friend has an excess, she (not your daughter) will have to pay it.

Contrary to what most people think, You only pay an excess if you repair your OWN car. For 3rd party claims there is NO EXCESS to pay.

So, her friend won't be paying any excess.

Assuming friend has fessed up, yes.

If she hasn't, daughter will pay xs to get it repaired until the decision is made on who was at fault and then daughters insurance company can claim repairs, costs and finally the xs from friends company.

If no damage to landrover then no excess to pay by your daughter friend. It happened to me once, also in a landrover.

Don't drag me into this! hehe

My LR has parking sensors that work most of the time... They have mud and water that need cremoved from the connections to get them sorted properly.

(Now, about this daughter... hehe )

Only said before Tony says it, nothing else.
