Could anyone recommend a company that will do a proper agreed value insurance based on photographs.

I'm wasting my time trying to sort a club valuation at the moment so am looking at alternatives.

Any help much appreciated

I used Heritage for this in March. They require 6 photos; front ,rear ,both sides ,engine bay and interior , with at least 1 photo showing reg plate. They issued an agreed valuation certificate and returned photos-you can e-mail photos if you want.

+1 for Heritage.

I've had my 65 S2 Elan insured with them for years, & only a month or so ago realised that I was way out of step with current values by a factor of more than two.

They only require six photos, but I sent more, & my valuation was agreed, insurance renewed.

Surprised that you are having problems with a Club valuation (assuming that you are a member of the Club) I do this for an owners' Club (Sunbeam Lotus) on a regular basis & it all works fine.

Recent experience is that some insurers do not actually require a Club valuation up to a certain amount, in other words it is a self valuation, supported by photos of course. Others actually want to charge you extra for agreeing to the valuation figure!!

Peter James Insurance is an excellent provider of good premium and cover classic insurance and do self assessed valuation (up to £10k or £15k, sorry can't remember) based on your four (to six, can't remember again) photos every few years and you filling in your own valuation form

valuations for all and from are mainly about cosmetic appearance of the vehicle to relate it to market value so clean and polish the whole car before taking photos to show it at its best

go to the home page, at the very bottom, fill in the two boxes for 'Call Me and give me a quote' and let them ring you back (Available 9am-5pm Monday to Friday) and then it's cost you nothing to enquire

many options can be at no cost so ask, e.g. unlimited mileage

Cheers for the replies guys I'll try these if the club end doesn't happen.

Struggling to actually get the guy I need within the club to even reply to emails and PM's so need to look at alternatives. Yes I know people do this within clubs on a voluntary basis but common manners isn't much too ask is it.

I expect you are but just in case, are you certain you got the right person and they still do valuations, some clubs are very slow to update details or you might have an old list

have you double checked for typos in the email address from your source and your typing of the address in your emails

I used to deal with getting and/or collecting contact details so I know that errors often occur for various reasons

I get emails for a (near) namesake and always pass them on but not everybody redirects incorrectly addressed emails because of scams or spam or simply they can't be bothered

absolutely totally agree

they must get fed up though of dealing with abuse when they value cars at less than the purchase price despite thousands having been spent on the car since purchase rotate

Just renewed my agreed valuation classic car policy this week with Towergate Cherished Cars Insurance (part of Aviva). All the normal classic do`s & don'ts,limited mileage etc RAC recovery, very competitive premium.
Six recent photo`s and they agree MY!! valuation and I get a nice "agreed valuation certificate",very handy as I`ve put the old girl up for sale.

Peter James gives me a very competitive quote with the extras but without the restrictive don'ts - mine is unlimited, not garaged, comprehensive so I can drive other cars, modified car, agreed self-assessed valuation, legal cover, UK & European breakdown cover, my wife on the policy too for no extra charge despite her recent accident - might explain why others have recently insured with them after my suggestion

I hope you and the buyers don't think that gives the buying price of the car, depending on market it could be too high or even possibly too low

I've used Hagerty and found them very good

Damage to car (no fault) was sorted out promptly and painlessly which is probably the most important thing
