ABS Warning Light 2002 X-Type 2.5
Discussion
Hi All,
I am just trying to help an elderly gentleman out here and hope some forum members may be able to help. The ABS warning light appeared on his car a couple of days ago, the car is drivable but you can feel the ABS pulsing at very low speeds when applying a very light brake pressure. The car has been taken to a local garage and they have diagnosed the fault as the "ABS Ring", something I have never heard of before. The car has a warranty of sorts but the warranty company want photographs of the part before the garage is authorised to carry out the repair, as the failure may be down to "wear and tear", quite what component on a 12 year old car that would not fall into this category is anyones guess. The garage want £300 to remove the part and there is no guarantee that the warranty company will cover it, so I am trying to look at some alternatives
My questions are;
1.Could this be anything else other than the ABS Ring?
2.As a stop gap, could I simply remove the ABS fuse to disable the ABS and still have the standard brakes?
Thank you for any help.
