Sharapova & Porsche - to attract women.

I may be late with this but I just read in the trade press (Car Dealer magazine) that Maria Sharapova has been appointed Porsche's first global brand ambassador on a 3 year contract, cited as a likely attempt to attract more women to the brand as currently 90% of Porsches are bought by men.

When I was at Silverstone a while back, one of the instructors said that very few women who bought Porsches took up the complimentary experience day so they were looking to try and get more female instructors. Think he said that a lot of the cars were Cayennes but still, decent lunch and a bit of self improvement even if you are not into driving surely has some appeal.

Porsche sponsor the German Davis Cup team I think, seems a logical extension.
